                             Gratin Dauphinoise

   Amount  Measure       Ingredient -- Preparation Method

    3      lb            potatoes
    1      clove         garlic -- minced
    1      tablespoon    butter
    2      cups          heavy cream
    2      cups          milk
      1/2  cup           Gruyere cheese -- grated
                         salt, pepper and nutmeg -- to taste
 
 Stir together cream, milk and seasonings.
 Butter a baking dish and rub garlic into it.
 Slice potatoes as thinly as possible.( food processor)
 Place potatoes in dish, alternating  with the cheese. Pour milk mixture
 over potatoes.
 Sprinkle plenty of cheese on top.
 Bake in 325 F oven for 1 and 1/2 hour.
