                          LETTUCE AND ONION SALAD

   Amount  Measure       Ingredient -- Preparation Method
 --------  ------------  --------------------------------
    2      tablespoons   melted bacon grease
    2      tablespoons   vinegar
    1      tablespoon    sugar
    1 1/2  quarts        shredded lettuce
    3                    green onion -- chopped
                         salt and pepper -- to taste
 
 Heat bacon grease, vinegar and sugar to a boil.  Pour over lettuce and onions.
 Add salt and pepper to taste.  Toss to mix.  Serve at once.
