       Title: Spoon Bread

       Yield: 6 servings
       2 c  Cornmeal                        1 1/2 c  Sour milk
   2 1/2 c  Boiling water                       1 ts Baking soda
   1 1/2 ts Salt                                2 tb Melted shortening
       2    Eggs, separated                
   Add cornmeal gradually to boiling water, stirring constantly. Let cool. Add
   shortening, salt, egg yolks, milk, and baking soda. Beat about 2 minutes
   and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into well-oiled baking dish and
   bake in  hot oven (435ø F) about 40 minutes. 6 servings. - Grace Viall
